During this event, President Trump listed the various accomplishments of several countries, including Uganda, Nigeria and Guinea. He proceeded to congratulate “Nambia” on its “increasingly self-sufficient” healthcare system and stated HHS Secretary Tom Price, MD, would be traveling to Africa to promote the U.S.’s global health security agenda.
The White House released a transcript of the president’s remarks Sept. 20. All references to “Nambia” were changed to “Namibia” in the document. Namibia is located in southwest Africa along the coast. The country is bordered by Botswana, South Africa and the Atlantic Ocean.
An Trump administration advisor told The Hill the meeting served as a working luncheon to discuss ways the U.S. “can help African nations develop their economies, address urgent challenges and strengthen security relationships and economic relationships between our nations.”
