Trump lunches with GOP senators to discuss healthcare

Amid talks that the AHCA is nearing completion, President Donald Trump will hold a lunch Tuesday to discuss the bill with thirteen Republican senators, according to The Hill.

The group includes legislators such as Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Arkansas, who have critiqued the bill for not being conservative enough, and more moderate lawmakers such as Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, who has sought to extend some of the ACA’s Medicaid funding in the replacement legislation.

It was reported yesterday that senators would soon send a draft of the AHCA to the Congressional Budget Office for review and evaluation, but this draft would not be publicly released. Mr. Trump has repeatedly pressed the Senate to pass the bill before its July 4 recess.
