Three things to know:
1. Mr. Trump named Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson, MD, chief medical adviser and assistant to the president. He was also nominated for a promotion to two-star admiral Feb. 1.
2. The announcement came just before the president’s annual physical, which is scheduled for Feb. 8 at Bethesda, Md.-based Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
3. Dr. Jackson was nominated to serve as the head of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in April 2018, but withdrew his nomination after allegations of overprescribing pills, consuming alcohol while on the job and creating a hostile work environment, among other claims. Dr. Jackson has denied the allegations. The Washington Post reported Dr. Jackson is still under investigation by the Defense Department’s inspector general for his alleged conduct.
