Tacoma, Wash.-based MultiCare Health System has shared plans to close multiple clinics due to healthcare’s “challenging financial landscape,” moves that will affect 83 employees a spokesperson for the health system confirmed Sept. 6 with Becker’s.
The system’s MultiCare Rockwood Clinic in Spokane, Wash., will close the Access Clinic on Oct. 27, MultiCare Dermatology on Dec. 4 and the Rockwood Eye Clinics on Dec. 31. All locations are in Spokane.
The closures also include MultiCare Rockwood’s Northpointe and downtown locations. However, the downtown location will offer limited services for medical retinas through June.
Staff and providers are among the 83 employees affected by the closures. MultiCare said it is working with them to offer information, resources and support regarding other available opportunities at the system.
“This decision follows a careful review of our services and our responsibility to ensure Rockwood can continue meeting community needs in a sustainable way,” the statement said. “We are grateful for our team’s skill, compassion, and commitment to the patients and families they have served. MultiCare will be reaching out directly to patients impacted by this change.”
