Tift Regional in Georgia Cuts 40 Employees

Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Ga., has announced plans to lay off 40 employees in an effort to trim $14 million from annual expenses, according to a Tifton Gazette report.

A mix of clinical and non-clinical jobs throughout the hospital will be eliminated. A hospital spokesperson said the cuts will not affect patient care, according to the report.

TRMC President and CEO William T. Richardson said that while the hospital is currently financially sound, it must prepare for pending changes from healthcare reform and decreased reimbursement, according to the report.

TRMC has roughly 1,700 employees.
