Tenet Healthcare, Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health and Charlotte, N.C.-based Carolinas HealthCare are part of a four-year battle over the right to develop a hospital in Fort Mill.
In 2006, Tenet, which operates Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C., was given approval by the state to build a facility, but Novant and Carolinas appealed the decision. The two health systems argued that Tenet had been given an unfair advantage, and the court ruled in their favor, according to the report.
The organizations must now resubmit applications by Oct. 4. The state Department of Health and Environmental Control is expected to make a decision on the winning application by April of next year, according to the report.
