Suspended HHS official shared post calling Obama a ‘Muslim terrorist’

Ximena Barreto, a deputy communications director at HHS who was suspended in early April after it was revealed she shared social media posts about the “Pizzagate” conspiracy, also shared content on social media that was degrading to former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, according to The Hill.

In addition to her November 2016 posts promoting “Pizzagate” — a since debunked conspiracy theory that connected members of the Democratic Party and U.S. restaurants to a child-sex ring — Ms. Barreto retweeted an image in 2017 calling President Obama a “Muslim terrorist” while also tweeting that he is a “pansy and a traitor.”

Ms. Barreto also supported the conspiracy that Ms. Clinton planned the murder of Democratic National Committee worker Seth Rich, and she retweeted a photo of Ms. Clinton and President Obama that said, “Fact: Our forefathers would have hung these two for treason.”

An HHS spokesperson told The Hill Ms. Barreto would continue to be on administrative leave “while the matter is reviewed.”
