HCA Hospitals in Florida Now Have Unionized Nurses

Nurses at two HCA-owned hospitals in Florida — Osceola Regional Medical Center in Kissimmee, Fla., and Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, Fla. — voted in November to unionize, according to a Nashville Business Journal report.

Nurses from both hospitals joined the National Nurses Organizing Committee-Florida, an affiliate of National Nurses United. Nurses at three other HCA hospitals in Florida are expected to vote on unionization later this week.

The decision to unionize could drive up nurse wages in the area, since non-unionized hospitals will likely increase wages to compete with union pay, according to the report.
