Boston-based Steward Health Care has abruptly left the Massachusetts Hospital Association without explanation, according to a Boston Globe report.
Steward resigned via hand-delivered note to the MHA last Friday, effective immediately. The 10-hospital system said MHA’s lobbying efforts do not “necessarily match its own interests,” according to the report.
MHA’s president said Steward’s departure is “difficult and challenging” since it brings a financial pinch to the association. Steward had paid 11 percent of MHA’s dues.
