Steward Finalizes Purchase of Two Massachusetts Hospitals

Boston-based Steward Health Care System has finalized its acquisition of Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill, Mass., and Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer, Mass., according to a Boston Globe report.

The deal closed just over two weeks after the Massachusetts Department of Public Health approved the sale.

Steward — owned by New York-based private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management — owns six Caritas Christi hospitals and currently has pending deals to acquire Morton Hospital and Medical Center in Taunton, Mass., and Saints Medical Center in Lowell, Mass.
