The 1199-SEIU union called on the hospital to settle a contract and offer better benefits to employees. Union members say the hospital is understaffed and does not offer adequate healthcare coverage or benefits, according to the report.
Last week, the union filed an unfair labor practice charge against the hospital, alleging the hospital’s management refused to disclose financial records during contract negotiations.
A hospital spokeswoman said that the union’s charge was inaccurate, according to the report.
The new 97-bed pavilion features expanded rehabilitation space, and community areas to promote healing in a child- and family-friendly environment, according to the hospital.
