Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke’s University Health Network recognized the 40th anniversary of President and CEO Rick Anderson’s tenure of leadership June 3.
Mr. Anderson has served as head of the network since 1985. He is the nation’s longest-tenured healthcare executive, according to a St. Luke’s news release.
During his tenure Mr. Anderson has overseen the organization’s evolution from a single hospital in Bethlehem with an operating budget of $63 million to what it is today — a fully integrated, regional, nonprofit network with revenue surpassing $4 billion.
He is also credited with expanding the network’s education programs, including the establishment of Temple St. Luke’s School of Medicine, Lehigh Valley’s first and only regional medical school campus.
Last year, Mr. Anderson received the Steven Schroeder Award for Outstanding Healthcare CEO from nonprofits Costs of Care and The Leapfrog Group.
St. Luke’s employs more than 21,000 workers and comprises 15 hospital campuses and more than 350 outpatient locations in 11 Pennsylvania counties.
