Three agencies were picked as the “Secretary’s Picks” in round two, including the Indian Health Service. IHS partnered with the CDC and the FDA to create a new public health reporting tool, which used de-identified information from electronic health records to provide near real-time surveillance of the H1N1 flu in American Indian/Alaska Native populations. The new system helped direct limited supplies of the H1N1 vaccine.
Three honorable mention winners were also announced, including AHRQ. AHRQ developed freely available software to enable organizations to create healthcare reporting websites.
