Congressional Democrats spent much of 2017 battling Republicans who attempted unsuccessfully to repeal and replace the ACA. However, Ms. Warren said Democrats must go on the offensive in 2018.
“We need to do more than play defense. I believe it is time for us to go on offense,” said Ms. Warren, according to The Hill.
She suggested broader Democratic support for legislation such as the Medicare-for-all bill proposed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., or the Medicaid buy-in bill proposed by Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii. Ms. Warren said she also wanted to promote more regulation of the insurance industry.
“For too long giant insurance companies have pretty much run the show,” said Ms. Warren, according to The Hill. “We need to build on that progress and do more to hold America’s insurance companies accountable.”
