Sarah Palin wants to lead the VA

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, R, is “openly lobbying” for VA chief on social media by underscoring her support for veterans and her ideas for VA reform, USA Today reports.

She reposted a video with clips of speech she gave on veterans from the Facebook page of her son-in-law Dakota Meyer, who was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2011, according to the report.

In the video, Ms. Palin lists off her priorities for the VA, which include giving veterans vouchers to access healthcare outside of the VA healthcare system, allowing veterans to transfer military certification to the workforce and bolstering veteran retirement benefits.

“They deserve to know that their sacrifices are not in vain,” Ms. Palin said. “What they fought for and what their friends died for was worth it.”

Ms. Palin’s Facebook post also links to an ABC News story, based on reports from a Palin aide and a Trump transition official, that Ms. Palin is being considered for the top VA spot.

Prior media reports suggest former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, R, and Florida Rep. Jeff Miller, R, are also in the running. The USA Today report adds former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, R, to that list, and ABC News also reported Gen. Keith Kellogg is a contender.
