S&P: Healthcare Costs Up 5.58%

New data from the S&P Healthcare Economic Composite Index show that the average per capita cost of healthcare services covered by commercial insurance and Medicare programs increased by 5.58 percent over the 12-months ending May 2011, according to an S&P Indices news release.

In this time period, healthcare costs covered by commercial insurance rose 7.35 percent and those covered by Medicare increased 2.64 percent compared to the May 2010 levels.
