Sanders commits to importing prescriptions from Canada on Day 1

If elected, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., a Democratic presidential candidate for 2020, pledged to authorize the importation of prescription drugs on his first day in office, upping the ante for the Trump administration, The Hill reports.

Mr. Sanders’ pledge came a day after the Trump administration announced it would begin writing rules to test drug importation programs, according to the report.

Mr. Sanders has made lower drug prices through importation a priority of his campaign, according to the report. He recently traveled to Canada with about a dozen diabetic people to buy insulin and demonstrate how high drug costs are in the U.S.
