About two-thirds of the cuts were at Saint Thomas Hospital, and the rest were at Baptist Hospital, according to the report. The system also closed The Wellness Center at Baptist Hospital, which affected six staff members, due to underutilization.

Saint Thomas employed roughly 6,500 people prior to this latest round of layoffs. System spokesperson Rebecca Climer said more than half of the affected positions were already vacant or open, and no clinical areas were affected.
