Saint Luke’s Health System CEO to chair AHA in 2020

Kansas City-based Saint Luke’s Health System President and CEO Melinda Estes, MD, is the chair-elect designate of the American Hospital Association, the organization said July 26.

Dr. Estes, a neurologist and neuropathologist, will be AHA’s chair in 2020. As chair, she will be the top elected official at AHA.

Dr. Estes has helmed 16-hospital Saint Luke’s Health System since 2011. Before joining Saint Luke’s, Dr. Estes was president and CEO of Burlington, Vt.-based Fletcher Allen Health Care, renamed University of Vermont Medical Center in 2014. Prior to Fletcher Allen, she was CMO and then CEO of Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston.

Dr. Estes is currently a member of the AHA board of trustees’ executive committee.
