The expansion project included 53 new beds, 12 new intensive care unit rooms, operating suites, a digital X-ray imaging system and two cardiac catheterization labs. Although construction was completed in January, the hospital had to delay using the new space until receiving approval of its license from the California Department of Public Health.
However, Desert Valley Hospital is still awaiting state approval to use its new open heart program.
