The news comes after Fla. Gov. Rick Scott (R) last week suspended North Broward Hospital District chairman David Di Pietro and board member Darryl Wright, who served as chairman of the board’s audit committee.

In issuing two executive orders, Gov. Scott cited a detailed letter from Melinda Miguel, chief inspector general, as well as concerns Mr. Di Pietro and Mr. Wright have been interfering with Ms. Miguel’s investigation of possible wrongdoing at the district.

A lawsuit has since been filed on Mr. Di Pietro’s behalf, arguing Ms. Miguel did not show any specific misconduct attributable to Mr. Di Pietro and Mr. Wright that warranted their suspensions, according to the report. The lawsuit also claims Gov. Scott does not have legal standing to suspend them, the Sun Sentinel notes.
