Both hospitals’ open heart surgery services will now be offered at Rhode Island Hospital.

The Department of Health approved the request on several conditions, including that Lifespan offer to enroll patients in CurrentCare, Rhode Island’s electronic health information exchange, report open heart surgery patients’ demographics to the department within six months and provide the department an annual utilization report of the cardiology clinic.
