As health insurance commissioner she was responsible for reviewing and approving proposed premium rates from the state’s insurers.

State Senate Policy Director Mary Ganim, PhD, will replace Dr. Hittner. Dr. Ganim has served in a number of high-level policy positions in the state Senate since 1999. She will be responsible for dealing with a number of insurers clamoring for premium hikes with the impending repeal of the ACA.
