Construction for the patient tower began in Feb. 2008. The tower, which features 128 private rooms, was budgeted to cost $125 million. The remaining funds will be used to relocate the hospital’s lab and labor and delivery unit to the patient tower. The financing was derived from $100 million in bonds from the county and $25 million from the hospital board’s cash reserves.
