The lawsuit, before the U.S. Supreme Court, would ensure that states comply with federal Medicaid regulations and “prevent dramatic cuts that would undercut Congress’ goals in enacting the program,” according to an amicus brief filed by the organizations.
The organizations argued the federal government has an interest in making sure Medicaid and other federal laws are not undermined by the states. “Provider suits to vindicate federal Medicaid requirements further the federal government’s interest in ensuring that the Medicaid program provides meaningful benefits to Medicaid recipients,” the organizations wrote.
