Some nurses were asked to agree to voluntary layoffs or hour reductions, according to the report. The system did not specify how many nurses and which departments were affected by the cuts. The reductions in nursing staff are tied to lower inpatient volumes at the hospital, according to the report.
This is the second round of layoffs at St. John Medical Center in two months: in August, Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth announced plans to eliminate 500 positions, many of which were at St. John.
