Orlando Health, University of Florida and Shands to Collaborate on Clinical Programs, EMR

Orlando Health, the University of Florida and Shands HealthCare have announced their intent to collaborate to form joint clinical programs in a number of areas as well as work together to develop compatible electronic medical records and information systems, according to a University of Florida news release.

Under the formal affiliation agreement, the organizations will negotiate to form joint clinical programs in the areas of pediatrics, neuroscience, oncology, women's health, transplantation and cardiovascular medicine, including a plan to develop a regional comprehensive cardiac care program. They also will look to increase undergraduate and graduate medical residency and fellowship training opportunities at Orlando Health, and Orlando Health physicians could receive faculty appointments.

In addition, they will pursue joint safety net ventures to better provide care to the traditional safety net patient population.
