Kenneth Hall Regional Hospital in East St. Louis, Ill., will cease all inpatient operations this summer, though its emergency services will remain open, according to a Belleville News Democrat report.

Sauget, Ill.-based Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation, which operates the hospital, will merge Kenneth Hall’s mental health inpatient services — the hospital’s only other currently open service line — with its Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville.

The merger, which has been in the works since 2008, will allow financially struggling Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation to consolidate its services. In 2008, all of Kenneth Hall’s other service lines were closed.
