Brown County has struggled in recent years to sell its financially ailing facility. Earlier this month — in its fourth attempt to sell the facility — the Brown County Regional HealthCARE Board of Trustees selected Southwest’s proposal. It was the only bid received, according to the report.
Southwest is led by Paul Tuft, who has come under controversy for operating a number of hospitals in the 1990s that went bankrupt. As a result, the County Prosecutor is expected to examine the deal.
For the sale to finalize, the Brown County Board of Commissioners must approve it. They could discuss the deal as early as tomorrow, according to the report.
