Chillicothe, Ohio-based Adena Health will establish a system-level board of directors with five local advisory boards operating under its oversight.
The board of trustees and the system’s corporate member churches unanimously approved the change, which is set to be effective Jan. 1, 2027, according to an Oct. 1 news release.
The system-level board will have up to 17 members and will include representation from the corporate member churches along with at-large members, the release said. Two representatives from Adena Fairfield Medical Center will join the board as part of the system’s recent acquisition of Fairfield Medical Center.
The five local advisory boards will represent Adena Fayette Medical Center, Adena Greenfield Medical Center, Adena Pike Medical Center and Adena Fairfield Medical Center, along with a newly created board for Adena Regional Medical Center.
“As Adena has grown, it has become increasingly important that our governance structure grow with us,” President and CEO Kathi Edrington said in the release. “This new structure gives us the ability to think and act more strategically as one health system while continuing to value the local perspectives and relationships that have always been important to Adena.”
Adena Health is a nonprofit system with more than 50 locations, five hospitals and 563 inpatient beds serving 11 counties in central and southern Ohio. It has more than 6,000 employees, including 460 employed physicians and advanced practice providers.
