Roughly 25 picketers gathered outside both John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, Calif., and St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo, Calif., yesterday.
Unless a contract agreement is reached, members of Service Employees International Union Local 121RN and United Healthcare Workers West said they may walk out. Union contracts are slated to expire Monday.
Workers have also expressed concern over rumors that Dignity planned to lay off up to 70 nurses from the two hospitals. The CEO of St. John’s Hospitals, Laurie Eberst, said there are no such plans, according to the report.
