The system also froze hiring for 55 vacant positions. Hospital officials attribute these cuts to the economic downturn, pointing to the December report by the Hospital & Health system Association of Pennsylvania.
Overall, the cuts will amount to one-half of one percent of the system’s 3,200 employees.
Still, Community Health Systems Inc., is planning to purchase WVHCS sometime this year and WVHCS has a $100 million expansion of their emergency room planned, according to the Citizens Voice.
