Community Health Systems Acquires Hospital, Health System

Community Health Systems, based in Franklin, Tenn., has acquired a 50 percent stake in MCSA, which owns the 166-bed Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado, Ark., and a majority stake in the Wyoming Valley Health System in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., according to a report by the Nashville Business Journal.

The Wyoming Valley system includes the 410-bed Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and First Hospital Wyoming Valley in Kingston, Pa.

CHS did not disclose the value of the deals.
