The new contract avoids a possible strike that the nurses authorized last week. The contract includes a 2 percent across-the-board salary increase in July 2012, a $500 bonus in April 2013 and a 3 percent across-the-board salary increase in Jan. 2014, the release said.
Nurses will contribute to their health insurance premiums, but they will be upgraded into the NYSNA Benefit Fund’s plan in Jan. 2014. The contract also maintains the current pension plan.
