The nurses, part of the New York State Nurses Association, join nurses at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital and New York-Presbyterian Hospital, who authorized a strike last week. Contracts for nurses at all four of the hospitals expired earlier this year, and the hospitals and the union have been unable to agree on staffing levels, wage increases and healthcare premiums, according to the report.
In response to the stalemate, the NYSNA released a 60-second ad saying the hospitals’ resistance over staffing level changes “compromise[es] our ability to give you the care we believe you deserve,” according to a NY1 report.
