Three Maine Hospitals Announce Job Cuts

Three hospitals in Maine recently announced jobs cuts, according to Maine Public Broadcasting.

Mercy Hospital, a 230-bed facility in Portland, plans to cut 58 staff positions, but laid-off employees will be encouraged to apply for jobs in other departments.

Eastern Maine Medical Center, a 400-bed hospital in Bangor, is laying off 50 employees.

Pen Bay Healthcare, which operates 110-bed Penobscot Medical Center in Rockport, is cutting 10 positions and reducing hours for seven others.
