Earlier this month, more than 4,300 registered nurses at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital and New York-Presbyterian Hospital, represented by the New York State Nurses Association, voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike. Registered nurses at Montefiore Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center are expected to vote to stage a strike later this week, according to the report.
Following strike votes, unions are required to notify hospital leaders 10 days before a planned strike.
According to the report, NYSNA and the four hospitals have been unable to reach an accord on several issues, including health benefits. Details on proposed agreements offered by the union or the hospitals were not included in the report.
