H: Drive Experience will use coaching sessions and shared group experiences for community change agents to help local leaders strengthen their sense of purpose, voice and commitment to serve.
“At Novant Health, diversity and inclusion are more than just words. They’re core values,” said Tanya Blackmon, executive vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer at Novant. “We are proud to provide a leadership development opportunity through the H: Drive Experience that will further benefit our diverse communities.”
The program was founded after a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Opportunity Task Force report showed social capital to be a vital key for accessing opportunities. Ms. Blackmon, Arlene Ferebee, senior director of strategic development at Novant, and Toussaint Romain, an assistant public defender at the Mecklenburg Public Defender’s Office, developed the idea for a social capital development program in these underserved communities.
The program is accepting applications until March 19 and will run from May 2018 to January 2019.
