The cuts make up about 3 percent of the system’s workforce, and most layoffs occurred at the system’s Northwest Community Hospital. The average occupancy at the hospital dropped from 70 percent in 2010 to 67 percent in 2011, according to the report. Since September 2010, the hospital has been staffing roughly 405 beds of its 496.
This past year was reportedly NCH’s third straight year of operational losses.
