In the absence of a buyer for the system’s six hospitals, this move would at least boost Dimensions’ creditworthiness and allow for needed upgrades to better prepare for an eventual sale, the panel suggested.
For fiscal 2008, Prince George’s Hospital Center, the system’s flagship, lost more than $15 million on operations, after losing almost $14 million in each of the two previous years, according to the report.
While nine interested bidders had come forward, most wanted to buy only parts of the system, according to members of the Prince George’s County Hospital Authority.
