Steward received a one-time extension from state regulators to resubmit its merger application with Landmark after its first application was deemed incomplete. The health system has until Jan. 11 to resubmit the application; supporters of the deal argue it is needed to keep the Woonsocket hospital up and running. Landmark has been in receivership since 2008, according to the report.
