Two New Jersey hospitals are going to the State Supreme Court to fight the reopening of Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, according to a report from The Record.
The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood and Englewood Hospital and Medical Center are asking the court to stop the Health Department’s “flagrant abuse” of the licensing process, according to the report.
It also claims the driving force for the reopening appears to be political pressure from the recent election campaign of Governor Chris Christie, who has publicly reiterated commitments to reopen the hospital. Political motivations or demands are not allowed as basis for hospital openings or reopenings under the Health Care Facilities Planning Act.
