Hospital officials plan to reduce benefits, change staffing levels at the nursing home, delay implementing an electronic medical record system in its outpatient practices, freeze spending on capital projects and stop paying for travel and education for its workers, according to the report. Empty positions will also remain vacant.
New London Hospital’s patient volumes have dropped and gross revenue was 7 percent below budget in the last three months of 2013, Valley News reported. Additionally, health insurance costs for employees were higher than anticipated.
