Mr. Patel has held various executive positions at hospitals in Pittsburgh, Chicago and San Diego over the last 10 years. Most recently, he served as vice president of operations at Magee-Womens Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center from 2008-2010.
Mr. Patel will prioritize budget issues, according to the report. The hospital had an operating margin of only $10.8 million, or 0.9 percent, last year.
