The health system will add a $28 million freestanding ED to its CMC-Morrocroft Medical Plaza. The 30,000-square-foot facility will include 14 emergency treatment rooms, two observation rooms and imaging, lab and pharmacy services.
Carolinas HealthCare will also build a $27.7 million, 26,500-square-foot facility called CMC-Providence, which will house 10 emergency treatment rooms and two observation rooms in addition to imaging, lab and pharmacy services.
Both freestanding EDs are scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2014.
The health system is also opening a freestanding ED in Huntersville, N.C., in April and has approval to build one in Harrisburg, N.C.
