Sturgis Hospital CEO Rob LeBarge recently announced he would take a 10 percent pay cut due to the hospital’s financial struggles. He said he was forced to eliminate hospice care, obstetrics and oncology at Sturgis. Sixty full-time positions were cut as part of the hospital’s reorganization.
Many Sturgis employees called on the city commission to request financial records from the hospital to confirm that these cuts were financially necessary.
“We can ask the same thing you do and hopefully they get the information for us,” Sturgis Mayor Bob Hale told the meeting’s attendees.
