Mercy in Iowa cuts 43 jobs as part of living center consolidation

Mercy Medical Center-Clinton (Iowa) confirmed 43 job cuts as a result of the consolidation of its living centers, both in Clinton, reports the Clinton Herald.

The consolidation includes moving more than 60 residents from Mercy Medical Center South to Mercy Medical Center North by July 2.

While the long-term living center will be consolidated, Mercy Living Center South will still have dialysis, home medical equipment, wound care, therapy services and offices, according to the report.

The plans affect 43 employees at the south location.

Julie Dunn, Mercy's executive director of marketing, told the Clinton Herald: "Mercy officials took great care to work with colleagues impacted to provide information on other open positions. Of those individuals, 17 have already been placed in similar roles across the organization."
