Mr. Banks was 48 years old. Although Mercy Health did not report the cause of death, an informed source said he had experienced a heart attack.
In April 2016, Mr. Banks was appointed as Mercy Health’s first chief strategy officer. He previously served as president and CEO of Cincinnati-based DBS Healthcare Consulting and spent seven years in various leadership roles at Edgewood, Ky.-based St. Elizabeth Healthcare.
“Drew was a highly respected member of Mercy Health’s senior leadership team … and served as a valued consultant and adviser in the Cincinnati region for several years prior. His experience, expertise and passion will be sorely missed,” said Mercy Health CEO John Starcher, according to the report.
Mr. Banks’ family established the Drew Banks Memorial Fund at PNC Bank on his behalf. Funds will establish scholarships to Covington (Ky.) Latin School and Crestview Hills, Ky.-based Thomas More College, both of which Mr. Banks attended.
