Janesville, Wis.-based Mercy Health System filed a CON application to build a 128-bed, $200 million hospital in Crystal Lake, Ill., while Crystal Lake-based Centegra Health System’s applied to build a 128-bed, $233 millionj facility in nearby Huntley, Ill.
Both proposals were rejected 8 to 1, due to the uncertain impact the facilities would have on existing healthcare providers. Four other hospitals in the area currently have empty beds, according to the report.
