Fifteen jobs will be eliminated, and 32 vacant positions will not be filled. A hospital official said the cuts will affect both MaineGeneral Medical Center and parent organization MaineGeneral Health, also located in Augusta, according to the report.
Before these layoffs, the hospital had roughly 2,900 employees, according to the report. The job reductions are part of the hospital’s plan, announced in January, to trim $5 million in costs to make up for a slip in revenue.
